What is SNV Timer?


This is a versatile and multi-customizable reminder program that combines a countdown timer, an alarm clock, a shutdown utility, a notepad, a monthly calendar and runs many scheduled tasks. For example, it can show an elegant text message, play a MP3 file or a voice message, show a picture or a video clip, shut down or reboot a PC, start a screen saver, dial up a phone number, run a Windows application, open a document, folder or a Web page!

This program can be used as a personal planner, an interval timer, a birthday reminder, a shutdown timer, a custom text viewer/editor, and more. With SNV Timer multiple countdown timers and alarms can be opened as separate windows – each with different tasks. The program works on Windows XP, Vista, 7 (with administrator account).

At specified times or at regular intervals, SNV Timer can:

1. Show a multi-customizable text message.  Create your own message boxes with SNV Timer! With this feature the background picture, color, font, border, size, shape, fade effects, letter-by-letter printing and other properties may be set. For example:
  

  


Additionally, the text in the message can be picked from text files which may include proverbs, jokes, quotations etc. Also, SNV Timer messages may be shown by using the Windows command line. It allows other applications (for example, such as Windows Task Scheduler) to show the custom message boxes.

Play an audio file.  It's so pleasant to be reminded by listening to your favorite songs!
Would you like randomly picked songs to be played at regular intervals or at Windows Startup? This is not a problem with SNV Timer! MP3, WAV, MID, WMA files, including some preset sounds such as Rooster, Dog, Doorbell, Ring, Laugh and others can be selected. In addition, your own voice messages can be recorded with the voice recorder which is included.

Show a picture/ video file in the full-screen mode. JPG, BMP, GIF, WMF, AVI, MPEG and WMV files can be selected. Would you like the randomly picked pictures or video clips to be shown at regular intervals or at Windows Startup? No problem! SNV Timer allows you to do this.
4.

Run a Windows application, open a file/ folder/ Web page.  Would you like a Windows or DOS program to be launched at regular intervals? Would you like any multimedia files (including MP3, WAV, MID, WMA, AVI, MPEG and WMV) to be played in your default media player at a specified time? Would you like a Web page to be opened at regular intervals? No problem! SNV Timer allows you to do this.
5.

Control external electronic devices attached to your PC through a serial COM port. Would you like to automatically turn on your air conditioner at a specified time? Would you like to automatically control your astrograph, telescope or home ventilator? No problem! SNV Timer allows you to do this.
6.

Dial up a phone number by using a modem. Would you like a phone number to be automatically dialed at a specified time or at regular intervals? No problem! SNV Timer allows you to do this.
7.

Control PC power.  SNV Timer can be used as an effective shutdown utility. Would you like to automatically Shut Down, Reboot or Log Off your computer at a specified time or at regular intervals? Would you like to manually launch a password-protected Screen Saver? No problem! SNV Timer allows you to do this.

Note that all the above named tasks can be assigned to run simultaneously or in any combination.

For example, SNV Timer can simultaneously say "Go to bed!" with your voice, show a nice picture and then shut down your child’s computer.

The tasks can run at specific times (e.g. daily, specific days of the week, monthly, yearly) or at regular intervals (e.g. seconds, minutes, hours, days). The missed tasks may be assigned to run at Windows Startup.

A pleasant and convenient feature of SNV Timer is that its trigger time can quickly and easily be set by turning the minute/hour hand on the clock face. If you are tired of typing numbers then this feature is for you!


In addition, SNV Timer includes the simple but nice and highly customizable Notepad and Calendar applications.

Lastly, SNV Timer can be a multi-customizable desktop clock. The background picture, color, fade effects, size and other properties may be set in most of the SNV Timer windows, message boxes and tool tips. The Main window title, shadow color, tray icon, clock face color, border, start-up sound and much more can be modified also.

The very important feature of SNV Timer is that its multiple instances can be opened as separate fully customizable windows – each with different tasks. For example, a timer can be created for personal exercise sessions which plays sports music. Also, an alarm for a dinner break can be set up which shows food pictures, etc. Each instance can be started normal, hidden, or minimized to a tray icon.

So in fact, alarms, clocks and timers that are fully (almost) customizable to your tastes can be created with SNV Timer!
